    Education & Early Work

Studying at the University of Sydney, Jen graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Architecture) in 1998 and continued her studies at the university to receive a Masters degree (with honours) in Heritage Conservation in 2002. Whilst studying, Jen gained experience working for Brian McDonald + Associates as a research assistant, followed by employment as a heritage consultant with Godden Mackay Logan Heritage Consultants in Sydney, Australia.

Jen participated in the US/ICOMOS summer internship programme in 2003, where she worked for the US National Parks Service at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, North Carolina; researching and recording several lighthouses and a weather station.

    UK Work

At the end of 2003, Jen joined Simpson & Brown Architects in Edinburgh where she led and managed their Architectural History Team, becoming an Associate in 2005. Highlights of her time at Simpson & Brown include Conservation Plans for Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute; Dumfries House and Estate in Ayrshire; and the Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle.

    Specialist Interests

With a specialist interest in the history and conservation of architectural ceramics, as well as materials conservation in general, Jen was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to further study the use and conservation of terracotta in the USA and the UK, which she undertook in 2004.

Her experience as a US/ICOMOS intern reinforced her interest in lighthouses and their associated structures.
